Week 14 Review:
Shelly Fryer
|
This week, I was assigned to review a blog/website done by Shelly Fryer, it is called 'Technology 101 Skills for Teachers'. Shelly works at a school in Oklahoma where she teaches third and fourth grade with the use of technology. Shelly greatly recommends the use of iPads in the classroom for any age. On Shellys site/blog, she has many many resources for people who come across her site. I think that this site is very helpful for future and current educators. Shelly travels and speaks to many people about the use of technology in the classroom and how she believes it improves the education of students. You can follow Shelly on twitter for for amazing resources and ideas.
To the left I have posted some images of specific resources I pulled off Shellys website. The picture on the right shows 3 apps that Shelly picked for differentiated literacy and math learning, I actually went and checked these out and they were GREAT. They would be great for an elementary classroom. The middle picture shows a project that Shelly's classroom did called 'Bat Paper Slide Show'. I loved this project because it allowed her students to get creative and show their ability to put there imagination on paper. The right picture is something I pulled off of Shelly's 'About' page, this particular picture shows Shelly giving her students a lesson on educational resources and strategies. Shelly has so many ideas and tips on her website, it is so hard to shove what ones to talk about. Below, I posted a youtube video that I found of Shelly talking about some of the fun educational things that she is doing in her current classroom. My favorite thing that I found on Shelly's site, it is a video called 'Bats... Friends or Foe'. This is a class project that Shelly worked on with her students and this video is honestly amazing because the students are teaching the lesson to us viewers. Go ahead and watch below: Lastly, I am going to talk about the tab called 'Classroom Channels' that can be found on Shelly's page. This tab includes the classroom website, classroom youtube channel, and photos of the class work and students. The classroom website is considered the 'Home Base' for the classroom. You can find photos, the class radio show, workshops, and much much more. I personally think that having your own classroom radio show is awesome and very logical anymore. With all of the technology that we have available to us, why not use it to allow listeners to know what is going on in your very own classroom. |
