Week 6 Review: Mrs. Samuelson's Swamp Frogs
For this week's review I decided to take a look at Mrs. Samuelson’s Swamp Frogs: Sharing Ideas & Activities With Teachers. What first grabbed my attention was the website name, swampfrogfirstgraders.blogspot.com. That looked like a fun and unusual website so I decided to take a look at it.
The first thing that I decided to take a look at was math activity for multiplying larger numbers. The page showed a video of how to do the activity and I thought that was awesome. I love when blogs actually show us what the activity looks like. This activity is called Napier Bones. This activity looked fun and it seemed like kids would enjoy it and learn with it. The next thing I took a look at was the Teacher Resources tab. I scrolled through the page and found some really great ideas. One ideas that I really liked was using Skype. Students would read a book over Skype to someone and the person on the other side would have the same book to follow along and help the students if they got stuck. I would love to use this idea in my classroom because the ideas and possibilities are endless with this technology! Overall I would say I truly enjoyed this site. I will definitely be bookmarking it and using it for future resources in my classroom. |
